Instagram on Monday introduces several new direct messaging (DM) features, enhancing users ability to connect with friends and adding flexibility and enjoyment to messaging experience.
Edit your messages
Whether it’s a typo or if something doesn’t quite sound right, now the users have the ability to edit messages within 15 minutes of sending.
To make a modification, simply press and hold the sent message, then select “edit” from the dropdown menu.
Pin chats to top of inbox
For your most important chats with best friends, family, or those you want readily accessible at the forefront of your inbox, you’ll soon have the option to pin up to 3 group or 1:1 chats.
To prioritize a chat at the top of your inbox, either swipe left or tap and hold on the chat, then select “pin”. You have the flexibility to unpin a thread whenever you choose.
Toggle read receipts in DMs
Read receipts conveniently let others know you’ve read their message. Now, you can choose to turn read receipts on or off, for all of your chats or specific ones.
To turn it on or off for all chats:
- Go to account settings
- Tap Messages and story replies
- Tap Show read receipts
- Toggle read receipts on or off for all of your chats
Save favorite stickers and upgrade your replies
Saving your preferred stickers in DMs for convenient access is now possible. By pressing and holding the sticker you wish to save, you’ll locate them at the top the next time you access stickers.
Furthermore, when responding to a message, you have access to stickers, GIFs, videos, photos, and voice messages. Just press and hold on the message you want to reply to, choose “reply,” and you’ll see the options available.
Personalize chats with more themes
Create the ambiance for your chat using themes. Whether you’re organizing a get-together or engaging in playful banter with friends, Now Instagram have a theme for every occasion. Explore the latest themes, including Love (soon to be animated), Lollipop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many others.
To switch the theme for a chat, simply tap the chat name at the top, navigate to themes, and select one from the available options.
