Microsoft aims to assist 2 million individuals in small cities in India to acquire AI skills.

On Wednesday, CEO Satya Nadella announced that Microsoft aims to offer AI skill development opportunities to 2 million individuals in India by 2025. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between India and the United States in establishing norms and regulations for AI.

The training initiative will prioritize individuals in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, along with rural areas, aiming to unlock inclusive socio-economic progress, as per the company’s statement.

“I hope consensus emerges and that is what really helps, in some sense, (with) the diffusion of this technology,” Nadella said at a conference in Mumbai, referring to global attempts to draw up rules and regulate AI.

Nadella said he hoped diffusion of AI globally would lead to “equal distribution of economic growth”.
