Your SBI net banking facility may get blocked by December 1; know how you can avoid it

Internet banking facilities for State Bank of India (SBI) account holders may be blocked if they do not link registered mobile number with the bank by the December 1, 2018 deadline. If customers fail to adhere to the guidelines, net banking services will be blocked, reported ET.

Individuals should note that the bank has already intimidated users on its net banking website about the directive. The mobile number, if not registered, has to be done via a physical branch. Failing to do so will result in service disruption after December 1.

In a message on its website, SBI said, “Attention INB users, please register your mobile number with us immediately, if not already done, through Branch, failing which the Internet Banking Facility may be blocked with effect from 01.12.2018.”

In this scenario, you should ideally check whether your registered mobile number is linked to your account. If it is not yet done, you should hurry to the nearest SBI branch and get it done right away.

A circular released by the RBI dated July 6, 2017, clearly stated that banks have to ask their customers to register for SMS and email alerts. In case, customers fail to get their mobile number registered, net-banking and mobile banking services will be affected.

To check whether your mobile number is registered with SBI, you have to log in to your net-banking facility. Once you are logged in, you have look for ‘My Account and Profile’ tab on the homepage. Click on the Profile options and proceed to ‘Personal Details/Mobile’.

You will then be asked to enter your profile password, which is not the same as your login password. Once successfully entered, you will be able to see your registered mobile number and email id details partially in this 5301 XXXX XXXX XX91 format. If you do not see any mobile number, you have to pay a visit to the nearest branch to get it done.
